Book Seven

I’m finding book seven to be more of a challenge than the previous six, maybe because it’s the last in the series. I’m nearly half finished and I expect the latter half of the book to come along more quickly than the first half did.

It should be available this summer, but I’m afraid I can’t be more specific than that because the creative process, at least for me, doesn’t adhere to a schedule.

Above all, I want to finish strong, and so, as before, it’s more important to me that I do this well than quickly.

Thank You,
David A. Wells

PS – Book seven will be titled “Reishi Adept”.

  2. Terry says:

Thank you for the update. I agree with you that it is more important to do it well than to do it quickly. This story has drawn so many of us in so far that we can’t wait for the conclusion.

  3. Richard says:

Why? Try to wrap it up in one book when it feels like there’s so much more to come

  4. Will Goins says:

I can’t wait for the finale. It will be interesting to see how you finish it. I have enjoyed reading your novels.

  5. Pete C says:

Thanks for the update. Have really enjoyed this series and am looking forward to book 7. Take all the time you need to get it right!

  6. Jerry says:

Thank you, so come mid July I’ll start reading books 1-6. Great series..

  7. Randall Wright says:

Take all the time you need. I am just starting book six (I gobbled up the previous five in the past month). I love your writing style and the entire Sovereign of the Seven Isles concept. You have more than earned your place among the top five authors in my sci-fi fantasy favorites. I am so glad I took Amazon’s advice and purchased the first in the series.

  8. Barry says:

    I agree with Richard!
I can see so may potential shifts and strands to this story that it feels like only one more book is a hasty retreat from the Seven Isles…

I hope that this is merely the conclusion to the first adventure in this wonderful realm and that you continue to find inspiration and motivation to write a sequel 🙂

  9. Json says:

Digging it. Thanks for the update, take your time, do your thing. Kind of surprised you’re wrapping it up this book! The story feels vast, but either way, I’ll look forward to purchase. Carry on sir.

  10. Cheryl says:

Can’t wait for book seven…..please get those creative juices working so we can find out how it all comes together….best read I’ve had for years and I read fantasy all the time.

  11. Andrew says:

I can’t wait for book 7 hope there will be a post or update so we know when to start the reread:D keep up the great work and never worry about length or time it takes in the end everyone who loves the series will find the wait well worth it:)

  12. Mike stantz says:

Saddens me to hear book seven will end this series. Hands down my favorite in years.

  13. Adam Kesterton says:

Thanks for the update, can’t wait!

  14. Kelly Tagliaferro says:

So now that we have our release date update… When do we get a peek at the cover of Reishi Adept?

Believe me, we are all exercising more patience than we probably usually do. We certainly don’t want to rush you because this is the last book in the series, but then we do want to rush you because we need our Seven Isles fix.

  15. Kris says:

While I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens in the end, I don’t want the wonder of the world you created you created to end. I happened across your series by accident and I have read your books at least ten times each. All of them have been absolutely amazing, I hope you keep the world alive after this next book.

  16. Rocky says:

I suggest wrapping up the story in volume 17 but not in 7. 🙂 It is difficult to find a series that I can really get into and this one is great.

  17. Tony Cornish says:

A rip roaring yarn, one of the best I’ve read in a long time, keeps you gripped right the way through. Once I’ve read Book 7 I’ll leave it for a few months then read the whole lot from start to finish again, that’s how much I enjoyed it

  18. Tomara says:

I’ve read all your books so far, and I really have to say well done! I can’t wait for the 7th book!

  19. Jakub says:

It seems that there is (should be) more to the story than only seven books. Can’t you at least make the last piece into 3 equivalent books? – There are just way too many unanswered questions and characters waiting to be developed. Why stop there? I would be happy reading even another 6 books (in the usual ~yearly intervals) if the series goes that long. Thank you!

  20. Kate says:

I’m so excited for the final book! I love all of your books and that you would rather finish well than hurry through the process, I know the last book is going to be excellent!

  21. Dave says:

I don’t know how David can even consider ending this series with so many antagonists and create solutions for all of them in one book and tie up all the lose ends he has out there. Seems to me like it would take at a minimum a few more books. If he slams it all into one book he couldn’t possibly do it without having abrupt ending the wouldn’t be very palatable.

  22. Will G says:

I really hope that it is a nice long book. I have bought and enjoyed each and every one of this series. Great job.

  23. darksmiles says:

Well you don’t quite engage with your fans often enough!!! After may this is June and you have not given any news,dude/lady how are we to know if you are healthy or if you me with any medical emergencies???? Besides author more read than you give a timeline for their works and publish along those dates!!!

  24. Eric La Treill says:

Love this series and hope to see many more adventures from the Reishi and the seven isles

  25. Jerry says:

Hey David.. is time to start book one again… so I can finish book six just prior to book seven release..

  26. Kelly says:

Checking back every other day or so to see if the Reshi Adept cover has been added to the list… Haven’t quite started my coutdown to book 7, but waiting on pins and needles…

  27. pollyandra says:

Amazing series of books, frustrating having to wait for the final out come…. But oh so looking forward to it. 🙂

  28. Dan says:

I just finished Linkershim for the second time. I read through all 6 books over the past month to prepare for Reishi Adempt. I’m really looking forward to this one, Mr. Wells!

  29. Brendon says:

I’m glad to see the last book is almost done. I was worried the series would go unfinished like some of the others I have read.

  30. Kiyoshi Kohiyama says:

Let’s have book eight, nine, ten etc..
    You don’t have to stop.
No matter how creative you are as an author, it will always be difficult to create a new series. Continue what you have as long as the creative urge exists. You can start a new series also. Just dont’t terminate the series you have now.

  31. Charles Armga says:

    ** JUST OUTSTANDING **

  32. Wendy says:

Great news can’t wait to read the final installment.

  33. Ryan says:

I think the series is right up there with Tolkin, Jordan and Sanderson. But what I love most is the reasonable Kindle pricing. I hope you plan on have many more books Mr. Wells. Thank you.

  34. Jennifer says:

Well….. :/ I’ve read the first 6 this month and really wish the final book was here…. Great reads, just don’t like waiting lol

  35. Morty says:

Any chance we can get an update on the time frame for the next books release? We promise not to bite but we are certainly curious!

  36. matt says:

I agree with many of the other posters here. Why finish it in one book. There is so much left you can write about. Split it up and take your time. While I want to see Phane Get slapped around soon I also want to see more of this world.

I’m glad I stumbled upon this series. Well done and thanks.

  37. Brendan says:

Can’t wait looking forward to the last book read all six. Take your time all good things come those who wait.

  38. Jake says:

As an avid reader of yours, I truly agree with the rest of your fans in that you should continue the series past book 7. There is a great deal left in the story, and you have a creative mind, so I don’t doubt that you could make two to three more books out of this series. Thank you for the amazing series, though.

  39. Kenneth says:

I have waited patiently for the final book in this series, I would willingly wait longer for the finale to maintain the brilliance of the previous books and I agree that time should be taken to achieve this. I do not agree with some of the previous comments that the series should be extended further as seven books is a good number for a fantasy saga. The scope and depth of the characters and places however would give countless opportunities for spin-offs from within the existing series.

  40. richard lewis says:

I’m really looking forward to it. have loved every one of the others.

    Richard

  41. Carolyn Robbims says:

I am so looking forward to book seven but I would sooner wait longer and enjoy it more.

  42. Kelly says:

Still on pins and needles, but have not yet resorted to holding my breath…

Any way to get a teaser yet? Like the cover art…?

  43. Jeryme says:

I’m just wondering about an update on the release date for book 7.

  44. Valentino says:

I can’t wait for the book to come out I really hope it’s soon just finished rereading the series

  45. Patresha says:

Finished 1-6 in less than two weeks. dying for the rest!!!

  46. Luke says:

    Such an amazing series…
All I can hope is that despite squeezing the rest of this vast adventure into a final book, it will make up for it in am epic twist or grand ending.
Looks like I’ll be needing to discover another hidden gem like this series to keep me occupied in the future 🙂

  47. Rob says:

Not gonna lie starting to give up hope on this book being published, no updates nada.

  48. Justin says:

Was on a four day vacation, read books one through six the first 3 days. Waiting anxiously for the next and final installment of your series, this world has drawn me in and won’t let go. I find myself dreaming of what may happen, and even other little side stories. Please give us an update on Reishi Adept.

  49. Noah says:

Yes! I can’t wait for book 7. I’m sure it will be amazing!

  50. Bob says:

It’s the end of the summer and no update. I’m ok with the process taking some time and I would rather have quality over speed. I just ask that Mr. Wells gives us an update every few months on how the progress is going.

  51. Nicola says:

So sad to hear that this will be the final book of the series, The Seven Isles has drawn me in and I would love the story to continue I hope in the future we will hear more from this fantasy series as the previous books are amazing!

  52. Terry says:

I am currently near the end of book five and I must say what a brilliant series this is. Hopefully by the time I finish book six book seven will be out 🙂

  53. Jaelle says:

I wish this series would NEVER end. I have enjoyed it so much. Thank You!!!!
